Our Commitment

Beit Naomi (Ali Nahar Association, Reg. No. 580253979) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply relevant accessibility standards.

This website strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as required by the Israeli Accessibility Regulations under Amendment 3 of the Equality of Rights for Persons with Disabilities Act (5758-1998).

What We Have Done

  • All images include descriptive alternative text in both Hebrew and English.
  • The site is fully navigable using a keyboard — Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Space work throughout.
  • A skip-to-main-content link appears on keyboard focus before every page's navigation bar.
  • All interactive elements display a visible focus indicator when navigated with a keyboard.
  • All form fields have associated accessible labels (WCAG 1.3.1).
  • Success and error messages use role="alert" to be announced by screen readers.
  • All page sections are wrapped in appropriate landmark roles (<header>, <main>, <nav>, <footer>, <aside>).
  • Every page has a clear heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3).
  • The site is available in a fully accessible English version at ?lang=en.
  • Text colour contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA requirements (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text).
  • Dropdown menus are accessible to both mouse and keyboard users, with aria-expanded and aria-haspopup attributes.
  • All decorative icons and SVGs carry aria-hidden="true".
  • The WhatsApp floating button includes an accessible aria-label.
  • The site's HTML direction (dir) and language (lang) attributes are set correctly for both Hebrew (RTL) and English (LTR).

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, some areas are still being improved:

  • PDF documents on the Transparency page (certificates) may not be fully accessible. We are working to provide accessible text alternatives.
  • Third-party donation platforms (Nedarim Plus, CauseMatch, JGive) are operated externally. We cannot fully control their accessibility and encourage users to contact us if they encounter difficulties.
  • Video content does not yet include captions or audio descriptions. We aim to add these in a future update.
  • Some older raster images (gallery and archive photos) may have limited alt-text detail.
