In Memory
Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg HY"D
A quiet and respectful tribute — telling his story and the path that continues in his memory.
On Tuesday, the 25th of Cheshvan 5775 (November 18, 2014), our dear and beloved friend, Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Goldberg, was taken from us in an act of senseless brutality — murdered while wrapped in his tallit and tefillin, inside a synagogue in Jerusalem, Al Kiddush Hashem.
He was 68 years old, at the height of his vitality and dedication. His precious life was cut short by ruthless hands. The loss left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew him.
We felt — and still feel — the absence of this humble, noble, and deeply wise man. A man whose reverence for God preceded his wisdom, and whose heart overflowed with generosity and light.
Despite the years, the heart still struggles to accept his passing. He was a true guide, a genuine friend, who left his mark permanently on Beit Naomi — an institution he supported for the sake of young women in need.
Rabbi Goldberg devoted his time and energy to the advancement of Beit Naomi's mission, always with a warm smile and an open spirit — as though it were his own home.
In Beit Naomi's most difficult moments — when our founder, Yair Nahari, faced serious financial challenges — Rabbi Goldberg was always there: to encourage, to give hope, and to give personally and quietly from his own pocket for the sake of the young women, in the gentle, unassuming way that was so characteristic of him.
He merited, in his lifetime, to witness the fruits of his contribution to Beit Naomi. But sadly, he did not live to see the full extent of what would follow.
There is no doubt that this vital and extraordinary work — the rescue and rebuilding of young women's lives at Beit Naomi — stands to his eternal credit, and will serve as an enduring advocate before Heaven. May his soul rest in peace among the righteous.
A Legacy That Lives On
Guided by his values and memory, Beit Naomi continues to be a place of kindness, a true home, and real hope — for young women who need it most.
חבל על דאבדין ולא משתכחין.
May his memory be a blessing, and may his soul be bound in the bond of eternal life. Amen.
